Hi there People ! Paul Lacey here, AKA 'Retro Man'. Aiming at the Club & Hotel market, Retro Man is available as a Guitar / Vocal, One Man Band. (with as simple or big & Phat a sound as required.)  However, duo, trio and band formats are also available, comprising some of Sydney's finest musicians & singers.
ARE YOU SICK OF THE KARAOKE SOLO ACT-- PRETENDING TO PLAY A GUITAR OR SITTING FRAUDULENTLY BEHIND A KEYBOARD THAT IS NOT TURNED ON.  So, the people are subjected to the CANNED SOUND of a MIDI file or tape recording (albeit DAT or MiniDisc) often with backing vocals, horns or an orchestra all blaring away while the poor punter switches off, realizing very little if anything is actually happening LIVE. We can all hear a recording at home.

I know I could have done better performances, but I have very limited time to record because I am too busy working.  Check out the gig guide. Clubs,agents and bands don't keep booking you unless you are delivering what they want. Apart from gigs and sessions I have a hectic teaching schedule. Here is variety - Thursday morning Aug.16 (written 07) appearing on Kerrie Anne Kennerleys' Today Show playing bass with Elvis Tribute ( Horns led by Peter Cross & featuring legendary guitarist from Leo Sayers' Band- Paul Berton) Thursday & Friday Nites performing with Mick Geraces' Spirit of Elvis CD launch by SONY/ BMG @ Darling Harbour Events Centre. On Sat 18 Aug, the Retroman trio w/ me on Bass & Vocals ( featuring keyboard genius Peter Kenny and equally esteemed drummer Jon Collins) will be performing a show @ Revesby Hts RSL featuring music from the Max Bygrave, War Years songbook; then backing the Andrews Sisters Tribute followed by a set of dance tunes from the songbooks of Sinatra, Nat Cole etc of the same era.The following Friday a solo gig @ the local pub doing Retro rock & country. Saturday 25/8 playing guitar & sharing vocals @ the Cove Club will be a vastly different & much younger band playing the R& B, Funk and rock hits especially of the last decade- Gwen Stefani, Aguilera, Chilli Peppers, Bob Marley etc.On Sunday 26 I will be @ the Botany View Hotel in Newtown with Danny Tsun & the BluezBoyz for the Sydney Blues Society.
Variety is performing Sinatra to AC/DC , Johnny Cash to Oasis, Max Bygraves to Santana and if I don't have the complete backing for a request I will do the song with just guitar & voice. (and a drum machine - or the intoxicated revelers can just clap their hands ) I select only smash hits from the last 60 years that can be performed well in Solo mode.
A great selection for the singalong or dancing & atmospheric listening pleasure of your audience- delivered through an awesome EV Audio System ( Speakers alone are valued @ over $4500 ) all with a wry sense of humour!   Please- I have eyes- I know the photos are shocking,  ESPECIALLY the aluminium shirt and clubland vest. I could not turn up @ a gig like that for my own safety.(ITS MEANT TO BE FUNNY! One agent suggested I "update" my look !!!) but like the demos they are (1) Current and honest (why put in a photo taken 20 years ago- like so many do) (2) Obviously not improved by Photo Shop (3) Cost nothing ( I spent the money on Guitars ) (4) I  have some hair left and I can prove it is my own.( DNA verifiable hair samples available on request)
